Trauma Therapy

Whether you’ve experienced trauma in your childhood or adulthood, it can have a negative impact in your life. It can cause you to have sudden memories of the trauma, flashbacks, bad dreams, anxiety, feeling on guard and can cause a shift in how you see the world or yourself.

Working and processing trauma isn’t something that is done in a few sessions. Rather, it’s exploring what healing means to you, what it looks like for you and in a way that aligns with your values. For some people, finding healing means discovering coping skills to not experience triggers as much, and for others it’s about processing negative beliefs that the trauma has caused.

There are many methods used to address trauma and one of the tools I use is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). This is different than traditional talk therapy and it’s been proven to help people experience less distress related to their trauma.

Therapy for Disordered Eating & Body Image

You may be experiencing a troubled relationship with food or your body, struggled with diet after diet, limiting your food intake or eating past fullness. In the world we live in today, certain bodies are idealized and the diet mentality is promoted as wellness, and this can be harmful.

We live in our body everyday and we need food to thrive in life, and if you are in an internal battle with either of these, it can make life kind of miserable. It can cause distress in your day to day life which can impact your self esteem and interactions with the world.

Our work will focus on rebuilding trust with your body, liberating your mind from food rules that aren’t serving you and adapting healthy behaviors. Discovering how to love and nourish your body can be life changing.
